FIFA Disposition Ignored By FRF

Although Mircea Sandu, Dumitru Dragomir and their staff knew about FIFA disposition they hid this fact both clubs and members of the Executive Committee.

FIFA specifically asked that the provisions of art. 9.2 and 18.2 of the FRF (Romanian Football Federation) Statute related about expulsion of a club to be removed because they are illegal and contrary to FIFA statutes. The General Association is the only organism which may exclude a member. This FIFA request was formulated in January 2011. After six months Universitatea Craiova was excluded by FRF's Executive Comitee.

The essay is signed by FIFA and FIFA's legal director Marco Villiger.

Court Of Appeal Decision

Court of Appeal decided: FRF (Romanian Football Federation) is a national sport structure that means this institution is an object of public interest.

Universitatea Craiova asked the Court of Appeal, in the administrative section, to void the decision from 20th of July of FRF's Executive Committee regarding the excluding of the club from any competition. Today Craiova get a historic victory in the sense the court rejected the exception sustained by FRF as their acts would be administrative and therefore the Romanian Football Federation would not be public.

As a consequence FRF must obey the law of the state and can not be treated as a inner state. This is a very big step toward obtaining full compensation for all the 39 football players our team lost last summer. The total amount was estimated at € 250 million.

Marian Bondrea

Marian Bondrea is one of the most important coaches of Universitatea Craiova. He won Cup of Romania for Universitatea Craiova in 1993.

Marian Bondrea was born in Craiova on 2nd of November 1950. He used to play for Electroputere Craiova, Universitatea Craiova and Soimii Sibiu. He started to train Inter Sibiu, in the Romanian second football league, during the season 1986–1987. In 1988 FC Inter Sibiu get promoted in Romanian first football league having Bondrea as coach. Universitatea Craiova was a great team in Romania. There were a lot memorable games, but this is one of the most important of them. On 1st of September 2002, Stiinta met Steaua Bucharest on Ion Oblemenco stadium in Craiova. It was a 40.000 viewers assistance at this game. And this for a stadium with 28.500 sitting places only .

Craiova had a big show in the field and in the stadium too. I hope you will like the video.

Corneliu Andrei Stroe

Corneliu Stroe brought glory for the football in Craiova. Now he wants to bring our team back to life. Corneliu Andrei Stroe built Craiova Maxima and now has a plan for the revival of Craiova's football.

Pavel Badea is the president of Sport Club Universitatea Craiova which contains teams from 5 kinds of sport. This was the mother club of the actual football team. Football Club Universitatea Craiova was separated from Sport Club in 1990. Stroe is trying now to create a football club for Sport Club Universitatea. The new football club will contain students and children from Craiova and will start in the 4th Romanian Football League. It is only The Ministry Of Education which needs to approve this demand. The team will be self-financed and maintained. There can be easily found sponsors for this activity.

Craiova Maxima Neighborhood

If Iker Casillas will have a street in his native village, "Craiova Maxima" is the name of a neighborhood in Plenita,Dolj.

In this village all the streets were named with the name of Lung, Geolgău, Cămătaru, Balaci or Irimescu, to remember just a few of the players who brought glory for Universitatea Craiova in the '80s.

Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki, born on July 11th 1990, is the daughter of Polish immigrants, Piotr and Anna Wozniacki. Her mother played on the Polish women's national volleyball team, and her father played professional football. The couple moved to Denmark when Piotr signed for the Danish football club Boldklubben 1909. Wozniacki's older brother Patrik is a professional footballer for Hvidovre IF in Denmark.

She is a Danish professional tennis player. She is the current world no. 1 on the WTA Tour. As of 7 November 2011, she has held this position for 56 weeks. She is the first Scandinavian woman to hold the top ranking position and 20th overall.

Daniela Crudu In A Relationship With Mihai Costea

Even she is working for a commercial television she did not give up the activity of animation in nightclubs. She dances for fun and she is earning around 100 Euro per night.

This hot brunette posed in the well known magazine for men, Playboy. This action brought her even more popularity being chosen to present a lot of very popular lingerie brands.

The most promising Romanian strikers are Mihai and Florin Costea.

Florin Costea is the elder brother. He was born on May 16th 1985 in Dragasani, Romania.He started to play Romanian second league for the local team Rarora Râmnicu-Vâlcea, then he transferred to the most popular team in Romania, Universitatea Craiova, who competed at the time in the same league.

After his new team was promoted, he became one of their key players and one of the best strikers of the Liga I. The 2008/09 season was great for Florin, finishing the top scorer of the Romanian first division, together with Gigel Bucur after both had scored 17 goals. On March 21st 2010, while playing a match against Politehnica Iaşi, the Moldavian goalkeeper made a rash challenge on Florin Costea, injuring him. He was forced to leave the pitch, and realising the severity of his injury he was taken out in tears. It was later discovered that he had broken his medial collateral ligament and crossed ligament. He was sidelined for 8 months. After Universitatea Craiova was disaffiliated he became a Free Agent.

On 3rd August 2011 Florin Costea moved to Steaua Bucureşti on a free transfer, later signing a 4-year contract, worth around €250,000 per year. Here he rejoined his brother Mihai Costea.

Mihai was born on May 29th 1988. He played for Universitatea Craiova's youth team. In 2008 the player was promoted in the first team, where he joined his older brother. Though his favorite positions are Striker or Winger, due to lack of players at Universitatea Craiova he was often used as a Left Midfielder. This usually brought criticism to Universitatea Craiova officials.

Mihai Costea was transferred to Steaua Bucureşti for a reported transfer fee of €1,4m for 60% of the players rights. But, due to the fact that Universitatea Craiova was disaffiliated by the Romanian Football Federation on July 20th, 2011, Steaua Bucureşti now owns all the rights of the player. He had a perfect start, scoring three goals in his first three games with the Bucarest team.

Mihai Costea was a Romania U-21 international being capped thirteen times and scored one goal against Latvia U-21 on 14 November 2009. In Romanian first football league, Mihai played 89 games and scored 17 goals. In UEFA Cup he played 4 games and scored 1 goal.

Until now, Florin Costea played 121 games in Liga I and he scored 48 goals. In Cup of Romania he played 7 games and scored 4 times. He also played 3 games in UEFA Cup and scored 1 goal. For Romanian national football team he played 7 games.

Romanian national football team played in Altach (Austria) against Greece. Not so much audience (700 viewers) but a nice game. The final score was 3-1.

Let's say that Greece came with a lot of young players trying to make a team for their future. This was the last game of Romania national football team in 2011. More than 60 players used Victor Piturca in 2011. Even so Romania has not a clear national team. They are still searching for eligible players. Anyhow, Romania played 14 matches in 2011 and only won 5 of them.

The goals of Romania were scored by Torje '17, Tănase '61, Chipciu '80 for Greece scored Karagounis '34.

Romanian Football's Mafia In Court

The head of Professional Football League (LPF), Dumitru Dragomir, was heard again by DNA's prosecutors concerning FC Universitatea Craiova expulsion case.

Unlike two weeks ago, when Dragomir created a circus in front of the DNA institution, today, LPF's boss was confined to declare that "It is my business what I said to the prosecutors". He will soon get in prison.

Mircea Sandu, president of Romanian Football Federation (FRF), is accused of bribery and Dragomir of complicity. Dragomir transferred 400.000 €, representing TV broadcasting rights of Gloria Bistrita, into an account of Mircea Sandu's wife, Elisabeta. Dragomir's official motivation was that Sandu's wife had loaned the football club Gloria Bistrita the same amount. In respect with this loan an affidavit was prepared, but there is no bank transaction showing that the loan was indeed granted.

That is why, investigators suspect that, in fact, Elisabeta Sandu did not ever gave Gloria Bistrita money and the transfer was, as a matter of fact, bribes for FRF's President.

Juventus Claim 400 Million €

Italian giants Juventus have lodged a claim for more than 400-million euros with a local court against the Italian Football Federation (Figc) over the 2006 calciopoli scandal, Italian press reported Tuesday.

Juventus accuse Figc of unequal treatment and lack of action regarding the 2006 match-fixing scandal that saw the Old Lady of Turin stripped of two league titles and relegated to Serie B. AC Milan, Lazio, Fiorentina and Reggiana were also punished but Inter Milan escaped unscathed and were even awarded the 2006 scudetto crown. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport Juve are claiming 444-million euros with the court in Latium, in the central and western part of Italy.

Juve were stripped of their 2005 and 2006 league titles but have been exhausting every possible avenue to try to get that decision revoked, including taking a case to the Italian Court of Arbitration for Sport as well as European football governing body UEFA. This is the original link. As you may know, Universitatea Craiova was subject of an abuse made by Romanian Football Federation this summer. The court is still working at this case, but this could be a good precedent to follow.

Universitatea Craiova 1986

In 1986 Universitatea Craiova qualified for UEFA Cup games. It was the same year, another Romanian football team, Steaua Bucharest, won European Champions Cup. Craiova met Galatasaray Istanbul in the first double leg and qualified after 2-0 at home and 1-2 away.

In the second leg, our team had to play against Dundee United, a team who will arrive in the final of this competition. Universitatea Craiova was the only one who won against Dundee United in that season. It was 1-0 for our team in "Central" stadium from Craiova.

Belgium - Romania 2-1

Romania played a friendly game against Belgium on 11.11.2011 in Liège. Actually this day was reserved for play-offs for European Championship 2012. Romania came on the 3rd place in its group and their fans had to see only a friendly game in this day. Almost the same situation with Belgium.

The final score was 2-1, but Belgium could win at a more comfortable difference. They had 2-0 after first time, Romania scored in the 65th minute of the game by Daniel Niculae and missed a penalty kick by Razvan Rat in the 88th minute of the game.

Victor Piturca was strongly contested by Romanian fans in the stadium. He is Romania's coach and the latest results of our national football team are worst than ever.

Universitatea Craiova has a trial in civil court against Victor Piturca. Romanian Football Federation and Romanian Football Leage are also in a dispute with the team from Craiova. As a consequence Universitatea's fans protested during this match asking to FRF's boss to leave his chair. The protests will not finish here.

New Zealand - World Champions

New Zealand won in Auckland against France with 8-7, becoming after 24 years, along with Australia and South Africa, the World's third team to win the "Web Ellis" trophy twice. This final was the tightest in the history of World Cup. The winner was established for the first time by only one point.

1987 and 2011 are two years which remain in New Zealand history. Two world titles and a dream come true. Four million people celebrated this win and went out to the streets, in a move unprecedented in the country in the Southern hemisphere.

Always favorite to win the world title, but stopped on the way to the trophy, in the semifinals or quarterfinals, New Zealand has succeeded this time a perfect journey. Even if the final shake up in the last minute with the French back in the game at 0-8, "All Blacks" have kept lucidity, defended well and were blocked at the table 8-7.

The final whistle sparked party, 300,000 people went out on the streets of Auckland to celebrate the victory. Fireworks, confetti, singing and clapping, dancing and joy. The streets of the country's economic capital were blocked by a crowd dressed in black shirt embroidered with fern's leaf, which is poured over all and sing the famous encouragement "Go All Blacks, Go." Faces painted in black and white, obsessive cries name players miniature Cup and children gathered in each frame.

Spending the night extended, while the players were lost in the crowd giving autographs, hand tighten, thanks fall, and over all presenting the shining "Webb Ellis" trophy. Residents of the two islands have emerged in public places in an unprecedented mass movement by now.

New Zealand celebrated its heroes and the fulfillment of a dream. Country where rugby is a religion was rewarded for waiting so long. Graham Henry's team presented the trophy in all major cities: Auckland followed by Christchurch and Wellington.

UEFA Invites FC Sion To Match Schedule Consultation

Rugby World Cup 2011

The most spectacular competition started this week. Rugby World Cup 2011 is happening in New Zealand this year. This is a great opportunity to find out more about this wonderful sport and not only.

For instance, there are 20 national teams in this World Cup. New Zealand was the first national rugby team which introduced a short dance in the opening of every game. This dance is called Haka and comes out from an ancient Maori ritual. Another teams like Tonga or Samoa followed this example and now you may see a tribal show at the start of each rugby game.

The specialists are saying that Haka must be not longer than 2 minutes else this ritual can open the gates to hell. Anyhow, let see some about sport.

On 9th of September was the opening ceremony in Auckland. The show was great and the former New Zealand captain, Jonah Lomu, was the most important figure. He earned the first World title for his country at the first Rugby World Cup, 24 years ago. There is a bookmaker quota of 1,55 for New Zealand to repeat such a great performance.

Another facts: the first rugby game played in New Zealand was in 1870 at Nelson ( Whakatu in Maori language). On May 12th 1870 was founded New Zealand’s first Rugby Football Club (continuing today). In the same year, Scotland national rugby team plyed their first international game.

Romania met France in a game for Euro 2012 - Poland & Ukraine qualifications. This is all. :) No, not really. Because there were no goals scored in this game but, at least, Romania has gossip. A lot of rumors showed up thanks of this event.

First of all let's see the game. It was not spectacular. Nothing extraordinary happened. Just a boring football game without goals and without anything else. France had 74,5% ball possession , Romania had the ball 13 minutes from 90. There were 51 minutes of effective game, actually.

This was the first game played on a new Romanian stadium. The name of it: National Arena. It was played in front of an audience of 55.000 people. The well known Romanian pop singer INNA, had a mini concert at the begining.

After this, Marcel Pavel, a great voice of Bucharest, sang Romanian National Anthem. Actually he did it bad and he get a fine of 1.500 Euro because of missing the song. This may happen... but FRF - Romanian Football Federation get the same fine for hiring the wrong person to sing the anthem.

A great stadium, which costed 250 million Euro, but a very bad football field. The grass carpet was totally damaged after 90 minutes of using it. It must be recovered until September the 14th when Steaua Bucharest wants to play a game in Europa League on the same stadium. The cost of reparation is 360.000 Euro.

Universitatea Craiova - One Year Off

Universitatea Craiova is the most unfortunate football team. Practically, this club will wait one year without being implied in any activity. Romanian Football Federation decided two months ago to exclude this team from any competition.

This is a strange situation and the fans of Universitatea Craiova are angry because of it. They organized a protest in Craiova asking for football to be played. This protest had no echo. Nobody can fight against Mafia. Because the Romanian football is now in Mafia's hands.

Argentina Canceled Friendly Game

Romania vs Argentina, a game which will never be played. In this summer, Romanian national football team organised a friendly game against Argentina. It was game with a big publicity. A whole year lasted advertising for this game. Two weeks before the game to be played, Argentina canceled it without any reason. Lionel Messi will not be present in Bucharest even Romania built a new stadium for this game. A stadium which costed 240 million Euro.

One of the most well known Argentinian fans, Pamela David, will not come in Romania, also. She was in March 2006 issue of Argentinian Playboy magazine. She made a lot of photo sessions to support Argentina at Wold Cup tournaments or for Copa America. She is also known as a fan of River Plate, a team which relegated in the second division for the first time in its history,this year. You can find out more about Pamela David here.

Universitatea Craiova relegated too. But after economical check the team was disbanded and, practically, no longer exists. This is the worst think a football fan can find out.

Copa America is a Spanish and Portuguese expression used for America Cup. There are 12 American football teams which are playing for this title every two years.

Between these teams we can always see Brasil, Argentina, Uruguay or Paraguay. Paraguay is the country of the famous Larissa Riquelme.

She became very popular last year at the World Cup 2010. As a mater of fact every South American country has a representative girl in 2011.

For instance, Argentina has Doris Mar, a girl who tried to live in USA but she was deported 2 years ago. Brasil has more than a girl. They have a Rio and samba. And so on...

Even if you don't like soccer, I think you will be very interested concerning Copa America. I don't think someone wants to know the final winner of the tournament. Everyone wants to see the people in the stadium.

Before this game, Universitatea Craiova was already relegated for the second football league.

Even so, Craiova scored first for 1-0 in the 23'rd minute of the game by Mihai Costea. The team from Medias scored for 1-1 in the 35th minute after a penalty kick rejected by Silviu Lung. In the second time it was a big storm in Craiova. The game had to be stopped for two hours. After the rain Gaz Metan Medias scored once more and they got all the points in this match.

This was a very important game. Craiova needed a victory to remain in Romanian first football league. Unfortunately the result was a draw. Bistrita scored in 35th minute of the game and Craiova tried hard to comeback in the game. All that Stiinta did was a goal in the 68th minute scored by Dorel Stoica. This means, Craiova will play in the second division next season. What a disappointment!

Not too much to say about this game. Dinamo Bucharest is our traditional rival team. This time we were not so happy after the end of the game. Craiova lost this game and made a serious step toward second football league. For the rest of remaining games in this season the trainers of our team are G. Bita and S. Lung, the same persons who stayed on the bench in 2004, when Universitatea Craiova went in the second division, too.

Calusari tradition

"Calusari", also known as "Calusul" is an ancient ritual dance with the origins in a village called Piria / Argetoaia situated at 46 km in North West of Craiova. The dancers goes visiting all the houses they can and they promise health and prosperity to the people who's watching them dancing. They pretend they can cure sick people if those are standing in the inner circle formed by the dancers.

This dance is played every year on Feast of Pentecost and it is supposed to be more than 2000 years old. It is also assumed to be one of the fastest folk dances in the world and is considered by UNESCO as a World heritage.

This victory was obtained with Victor Piturca on the bench. Since then, Nicolo Napoli was also a trainer of Universitatea Craiova, and he was sacked, too. Something about this match: Craiova tried to win and was pretty sure they will. Florin Costea scored his first goal, in the 7th minute of the game, after that serious injury he had. He waited 8 months to come back on the football field. He was goalgetter of Romania in the season 2008-2009. But this is in the past... Football is a game who doesn't care about this. After a cold cold winter there was not bigger pleasure than stating of a new football season. For us, Universitatea Craiova's fans, this started with a match played in front of 10,000 viewers at -8 Celsius degrees. That was an extreme temperature, even for Romania, in this period of the year.

What to say about the football game? Nothing interesting. Two lazy teams waiting to finish this job. I think is really hard to try running in such a bad weather. The only phase of the game consumed in the first half when Steaua scored and went in Bucharest with 3 necessary points in their pockets. Craiova still waits for victory.

Baba Novac / Starina Novak

Baba Novac was one of the most important historical personalities form Romania and Serbia in the same time.

Novac was born in Poreci,a small village on an island of Danube. This village was close of Serbian fortress called Semedria. There are no documents regarding his born date, but the historical community generally agrees with the year 1520.

He had a normal childhood and he got his education in the Orthodox Christian monasteries of Serbia. When he become a grown-up he used to be a worker for building of Semedria fortress. After 3 years of hard working in this field, Turkish administration refused to pay him any money. This was the reason he got angry and revolted against them. 10 soldiers were sent to punish him, but Novac defeated and killed them with only his bare hands. He became an outlaw since then.

He run away on Timoc Valley and organised his own band there. After gathering around 1000 men under his command, Baba Novac sieged and defeated Turkish army in Cladova, Florentin fortress and Vidin. He retired in Bosnia after this and used to live on Romanija mountain. Turkish army captured him there and he was sent in Istanbul to be punished for his facts.

Because he was a very strong man, Turkish administration made him a proposition: to became chef of Istanbul's police. Being a proud person he refused this proposition and spent 2 and a half years in prison. He escaped after this period of time and went back in Bosnia. He had a son called Gruia. In the Balkans,Baba Novac met Deli Marcu, another outlaw, who had an army of 1500 men and they became friends and allies.

After a life of guerilla fights against Turkish administration in South of Danube, Baba Novac met Michael The Brave, one of the most important Romanian Princes, in Varset (Serbia). Michael took the decision to fight against Turkish Empire in 1593. That means, Baba Novac was around 75 years old when he decided to join Michael's army as one of his generals. The other generals of Michael the Brave were John Smith (from Scotland), Aga Lecca (Albania), Valentin Walawski (Poland), Moise Szekely and Albert Kiraly (both from Hungary).

Baba Novac fought in South of Danube first, he defeated Turkish army in Pleven, and Stara Planina ( spring of 1595) and he moved in the North of the river after. On 23rd of August he took part in Calugareni battle (close to Bucharest). That was a great fight where 30,000 men of Michael The Brave defeated 120,000 Turkish sodiers. After this fight, Baba Novac participated in battles in Naieni (close to Ploiesti) against Polish army, Sarata and Bucov. In 1599 Baba Novac started the battle in Selimbar (close to Sibiu) and this was a great victory for Michael The Brave's army. After this fight he follows Moldavian army and conquers Iasi city. He also fought in Hotin and Camenita.

After such a glorious campaign Baba Novac retires in Lipov (close to the Serbian frontier). There he was defeated by a Hungarian army who took him in prison of Cluj. In 5th of February 1601, Baba Novac and his friend, Sasca the priest, were sentenced to death. They were tortured for 1 and and a half hour, fried and impaled in the public square. In all this time, Michael The Brave was in Vienna trying to sign an alliance with Western European States against Turkey. When he came back he defeted Hungarian army in Guraslau and he went in Cluj asking to revenge Baba Novac's death. Michael officiated a solemn commemoration, followed by a charity in memory of the Serbian hero. On the bastion of Cluj, Michael The Brave put all flags won in the battles by Baba Novac. On the land given to his sons by Michael The Brave, rises "Brazda lui Novac", district of Craiova, the most important Southern city in Romania today.

Marco André Zoro Kpolo, born 27th of December 1983 in Abidjan (Cote D'Ivore) signed for Universitatea Craiova. He used to play for Benfica Lisabona, but now he is part of our team.

In his career, Marco Zoro played 55 games for Salernitana (Italy) and scored once, 116 games for Messina (Italy) and scored 5 times, 2 games for Benfica Lisabona and scored once and 30 games for Vitória Setúbal. That means, Universitatea Craiova loaned for this season an experienced defender.

The other transfers for this season are: Wendel Raul Goncalves Gomes - midfielder (26 years old from Brazil) who used to play for Lask Linz, Austria, Daniel Subotic - striker (22 years old from Swiss) ex-Porthsmouth and ex-Grosseto (Italian second League), Andrea Cossu (26 years old, from Italy born in Nigeria) who used to play for Triestina, Paganese and Virtus Lanciano (all in Italy) and Vlad Bujor.

2011 preparations for a new start

The winter between 2010 and 2011 was very strange for Universitatea Craiova. First of all, Victor Piturca was sacked. The new trainer of Universitatea Craiova is Nicolo Napoli now.

After this action, 10 football players left Universitatea Craiova: Razvan Stanca, Spase Dilevski, Jullius Wobay, Mihai Dina, Emil Gargorov, Valentin Iliev, Alex Piturca, Valerica Gaman, Stefan Barboianu and David Junior Lopes. In the last 5 years, this was the biggest amount of footbal players who leave our team once. Practically it is almost an entire team who went off from Craiova.

After a 0-0 first half, everybody had the felling this game will be a draw. In the 67th minute of the game Litu scored for Gaz Metan. Craiova worked hard to score, and in the end of the we had the best opportunity a football team can have: penalty kick. After a fault against Julius Wobay in the penalty area, Gangioveanu took the ball trying to score. He missed and the game ended with 3 points for Medias. Universitatea Craiova still waits for a victory.

Junior Moraes scored two times for Gloria Bistrita (10th and 42nd minutes of the game) from almost indentical phases: counter attacks on wide spaces left by Universitatea's defenders and no reactions of Stanca.

After 3 days, the same game another stake. This time, 3 points for Romanian Championship table. Unfortunately no team got them. Each team went home with only one point in the bag.

First team who scored was Universitatea Craiova in the 14th minute of the game. Alex Piturca put the ball in Dinamo's net after an assist from Mihai Costea. After 9 minutes, Dinamo had the chance of a penalty kick and A. Cristea scored for 1-1.

In the second half, Torje scored for 2-1. But right before the end of the game, Alex Piturca scored again in the 83rd minute and the game finished as a draw, 2-2.

Universitatea Craiova had a really crazy game against Dinamo Bucharest. It was one game only for Romanian Cup semifinals. The begining of the match was very good for Universitatea Craiova's fans. In the 31st minute of the game, Dina scored after an assist from Mihai Costea.

Unfortunately Dinamo scored also, in the second half, after a head kick of Catalin Munteanu.

In the 71st minute of the game Spase Dilevski was redcarded for a fault he did not commit. Nothing changed until the 120th minute of the game and we had 11 meters kicks. Ologu scored for Craiova, but Barboianu, Gaman and Mihai Costea missed and Dinamo qualified in the semifinals. Another season without any performance for Universitatea Craiova.

Universitatea Craiova lost another game at home. It is really a shame the points gathered away are naturaly spread on Ion Oblemenco stadium.

Before starting of this game it was a moment for the memory of Adrian Paunescu, the legendary poet who passed away on 5th of November 2010. Universitatea's players had T-shirts with the message "Adrian Paunescu an immortal symbol." 24.000 viewers were in the stadium for this game. They had messages like: "Starting with today, it will be played Oltenia Eterna Terra Nova in the Heaven" and "Maestro, Oltenia cryies after you".

Universitatea Craiova played a good game but, unfortunately Otelul Galati scored in the 22nd minute and Stiinta could not score for draw all the rest of the game.

Adrian Paunescu, the greatest modern Romanian poet passed away on 5th of November. He was also a well known journalist and politician. He was the promoter of literary circle "The Flame".

Paunescu was one of the most prolific contemporary Romanian poets. His books have sold over 1 million copies, holding a record in this regard. Among his best known poems are:

He wrote the text of Universitatea Craiova's anthem, "Song for Oltenia" known also as "Oltenia eterna Terra Nova", and he was a big fan of our football team. Rest in peace Adrian Paunescu.

Universitatea Craiova beautiful dream, "Champion of a great love" - one of the glorious verses of Oltenians must be restored by Victor Piturca. The sentimental part of this slogan was solved by the fans who returned to the team.

Unirea Urziceni scored six goals in 12 games before this match. Despite of this they won against Steaua and Dinamo Bucharest.

In the 10th minute of the game, it was a counterattack for Urziceni 2 against 2. Muzac passed perfect for Semedo but Stanca defended well our goal. In the 34th minute Todoran scored for 1-0. In the second half, Universitatea Craiova had a penalty kick and Gargorov scored for 1-1. He dedicated his goal to Valentin Iliev who is injured until next year.

Universitatea Craiova won another game, this time against Pandurii Tg Jiu and passed to the next phase of Cup of Romania. It was really a great game played on a really hard field. Anyhow, Stiinta had 1000 fans present at this game and they did a great ambiance for it.

Our team played well and the result was the one which we all expected to be. There were a lot of beautiful goal situations, and the goalkeeper of Pandurii, Mingote, saved his team many times. Our goals were scored by Jullius Wobay ('33) and Andrei Prepelita ('54).

Universitatea Craiova planed to build a new stadium for our team. The name of it will be "Arena Leilor", in English: Lions Arena. This stadium is like a dream for us because the actual stadium is old and is very hard to preserve.

The new stadium will be have all the modern facilities of a good football arena. Will have restaurants and a conference center. There is only one problem with it: there are no money for build such a nice and modern arena. Until we will find these money, we will continue to dream on.

Universitatea Craiova lost their 4th game in this season. Unfortunately this was a game played in Craiova, on Ion Oblemenco Stadium. It was a really nice match, played in front of 25.000 viewers, but the result was not not the one we wanted for our team.

In the first part of the game, both teams played waiting for the mistake of the opponent. This came in the 42nd minute of the match when Ciuca lost his man and Yero Bello scored the only goal of the game.

In the second half, Craiova attacked with all the lines and had at least 10 goal opportunities. Unfortunately the goal did not came. In the last minute of the game Universitatea Craiova had a penalty kick as a last chance to score. Andrei Prepelita took the ball and tried to score, but Kuciak saved his team and FC Vaslui get back home with 3 more points in the table. Next game will be played on Thursday against Pandurii Tg Jiu as 1/8 of Romanian Football Cup.

The trainer of Romanian national football team is Razvan Lucescu, the only son of Mircea Lucescu, coach of Shaktar Donetzk, ex-trainer of Galatasaray, Beshiktas or Inter Milano. Mircea Lucescu used to play in the same team with Romanian Football Federation presidet, Mircea Sandu. They are good friends and this may be one of the reasons Lucescu's son is now the most important trainer in Romania. Universitatea Craiova used to play a lot of games in Europa in the 80's. In 1979, after a match played in Craiova, Universitatea Craiova - Leeds United 2-0, the Italian referee of the game, Gianluca Menegalli, declared: "Here is like in Naples". He was talking about the fans and the atmosphere in the stadium. Cristiano Bergodi and Wlater Zenga, both Italian coaches who used to train Romanian football teams, confirmed this resemblance.

At the game played 2 weeks ago, Steaua Bucharest - SSC Napoli 3-3, there were many Universitatea Craiova's fans who supported the Italian team. This gesture was granted by thanks in Napoli's fans forum. After 3 days, Universitatea Craiova played against Cluj and the ultras of Craiova used to sing and applause Napoli's result against Steaua. Every 4 years FRF organize elections for his chair. How can be possible someone to win these elections 5 times in line?

There is no one in Romania who have enough courage to defeat Mircea Sandu. There is a strong structure behind him who protects him and his friends. There are voices who claims the Mircea Sandu will go away only when he will die. Why UEFA have no point of view in this matter? How can FIFA tolerate such a situation? First game in Romanian Football Cup brought the first categoric victory for Universitatea Craiova. It was a 5-0 without any question mark. Universitatea Craiova played last Friday against Rapid Bucharest.

Craiova calculated since start to attack and keep Rapid'a players away from the goal, while the team from Bucharest tried to surprise using fast and furious runs, with the balls thrown for the mobility of Herea behind the defenders line of Universitatea. In these circumstances, the midfielders had a lot of work to do.

In the first half Universitatea's game was based on the balls thrown in front by Iliev and Gaman trying to reach our strikers in good position. Thus, logically, the phases were hot consumed on the other gate, where Rapid quickly and easily arrived. First Cesinha, tried to score from the box, and after that, Spadacio executed a free-kick but Stanca saved in extremis

Universitatea Craiova met Pandurii Tg Jiu in the 7th day of Romanian Football Championship. It was a really strange match. There were a lot of Craiova's fans waiting for our team to win this game. Actually Universitatea could win 3 days before the game because of some Profesional Football League decisions. But the players and almost all Universitatea Craiova's supporters wanted the game to play, not to be gained in the offices.

Targu Jiu si part of Oltenia, a region of Romania whose capital Craiova used to be. There is no doubt that Craiova has a lot of fans in Tg Jiu. Actually Universitatea has more supporters than the local team in this city. That is why nobody could even imagine this game could be lost. Unfortunately, the worst predictions turned into reality: Universitatea Craiova lost this game in a categoric manner. In the first minute of the match it was already 1-0 for Pandurii and they continued to score until 3-0 in the 53rd minute of the game. In the end of the game (88th minute), our favorite team scored after a head strike of Valentin Iliev who received a good pass from Gargorov. Let's hope for more in the next match against Rapid Bucharest, next Friday.

Next game of Universitatea Craiova will be against Pandurii Targu Jiu. There were some problems before this match, because of the team from Targu Jiu. They sold Ilie Iordache, a former football player of this team, in Greece. But the player was co-owned with Dinamo Bucharest. Dinamo Bucharest asked their share in this transaction and because Targu Jiu could not pay the money, their team was excluded from Romanian Football Championship. Because of this Universitatea Craiova could register a victory with 3-0 in the official statistics.

Taking in consideration all the facts, Universitatea Craiova's fans refused to win without fight. 99% of them did not agree with such a victory without honor. "We better lose playing the game", was fan's opinion. This is the spirit of Universitatea Craiova. Our team won Romanian Championship only 4 times since 1948, but they fought hard and really deserved to win them.

After all those replays and after such a big fan support, Pandurii Targu Jiu found a way to get an agreement with Dinamo Bucharest. As initially, the game will be played next Monday at 20:00 local time. Good luck, Craiova!

Victor Piturca

Victor Piţurcă (born 8th Of May 1956 in Orodel, Dolj County, Romania) is a former football striker. He was one of the prolific strikers of Steaua Bucharest, being one of the team's top scorers – he scored a massive 165 goals in 175 games played for this team.

Piţurcă joined Universitatea Craiova as a youth in 1970, aged 14, and four years later he was loaned to Dinamo Slatina, a club from Romania's second football league, in order to gain more experience. Before being called back to Craiova in 1975, making his debut for the team in November that year. As he was not used too much by Universitatea, Piţurcă left the club in 1977 to join Pandurii Târgu Jiu and then FC Drobeta Turnu-Severin, from where he was signed by FC Olt, thus returning to play in Liga I.

In 1983 he was requested by Steaua, helping the club to reach its highest peak in European football. Piţurcă's team won the UEFA Champions League in 1986 and the European Supercup in 1987. Piţurcă won the Romanian Championship with Steaua Bucharest 5 times and the Romanian Cup 4 times. At the end of the 1987-88 season he was the top scorer of Liga I and won UEFA's Bronze Boot. For Romanian National football team, Piţurcă only get 13 caps, scoring 6 goals.

After playing for Racing Club de Lens during the 1989-90 season, Piţurcă retired from professional football to take over as coach. His first appointment was for Steaua Bucharest in 1991, followed by another one with Universitatea Craiova in 1994, finishing second in the table at the end of 1994-95 season.

In 1996 he was named coach of the Romania Under 21 side, leading the team to its best performances ever, including a qualification to the Under 21 European Championship in 1998, hosted by Romania. In 1998 he was appointed as Romania's manager and qualified the team to the 2000 European Football Championship. However, despite finishing the qualification group undefetead, Piţurcă was sacked before even taking his squad to the Euro 2000.

In December 1999 he took over as manager of Steaua Bucharest, winning the championship in 2001, but resigned in 2004. In December 2004 he was appointed manager of Romania for the second time. At first Romania did well under his coaching, defeating several important European teams both in friendlies (Germany, Spain) and official matches (Czech Republic in Group 1 of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Qualification and the Netherlands in Group G of the UEFA 2008 Qualifying Round).

After topping their qualifying group (and thus qualifying for their first international tournament in 8 years), Romania was drawn in Group C at UEFA Euro 2008, alongside the Netherlands, Italy and France. At the time of the draw, these countries' respective Elo rankings among European teams were 1st, 2nd, 4th and 8th. After drawing their first two games against the finalists of the previous World Cup (0-0 against France, 1-1 against Italy), Romania lost 0-2 to the Netherlands, finishing the group in third place and thus being eliminated from the competition.

In 2009, the Romanian Football Federation released Victor Piţurcă from his job from the Romania national football team on April 9th, 2009. A few weeks later, Răzvan Lucescu was appointed as his successor.

In July 2010 Victor Piţurcă accepted to be Steaua Bucharest's manager. He prepared this team for the first 2 games in the season. Both were victories. After them he resigned his contract and starting with the 6th game of the season he accepted a 3 years contract as manager of Universitatea Craiova. After 15 years we may hope again. Universitatea Craiova - Sportul Studentesc 1-0

Universitatea Craiova won with 1-0 Saturday evening, on "Ion Oblemenco" stadium, a match against Sportul Studentesc Bucharest. This was the first game of Victor Piturca as trainer of our team after 15 yars. He used to train Craiova in 1994-1995 when our team finished the championship on the 2nd place in the table.

The only goal of the game was succeeded by Ovidiu Stoianof in the last minute (90+1). Both players who contributed for this goal were inserted in the second half. Dragos Firtulescu did the pass and Stoianof scored after a ball rejected by the Sportul Studentesc's goalkeeper.

To match roughly 25,000 spectators attended the University managed first victory in this championship.

This was the 59th student "duel" between Universitatea Craiova and Sportul Studentesc. Craiova won 23 games on their own field, and Sportul won only 4. In general, Universitatea gathered 30 victories and Sportul 18, other 11 matches ended with a draw.

The King Is Dead, Long Live The King!

Universitatea Craiova resigned Aurica Ticleanu's contract. The new Trainer of the team will be Victor Piturca. The former trainer of Romanian national football team, and of Steaua Bucharest signed for 3 years with Universitatea Craiova.

3 days of negotiation were necessary for Universitatea Craiova to make Victor Piturca sign this contract. It was the longest and the toughest process of getting a new trainer in this club's history.

After documets were made, a big fan's reaction spread all over Oltenia. It was an unprecedented wave of love among every single people in this region. The fans made for him welcome banners and for the first training session it was an audience of 2500 people who sang and encouraged Universitatea Craiova and its new trainer, Victor Piturca.

For the next game, Saturday 19:00 o'clock, local time, there are 30,000 viewers expected to be in the stadium. Until now, there are already 5,000 sold tickets and 2 more days until the match against Sportul Studentesc.

Astra Ploiesti - Universitatea Craiova 2-2

Michael Stoichiţă and Aurel Ticeanu were looking for their first victory in stage fifth, when Craiova visited Astra Ploiesti. Two teams with a single purpose: the three points of victory. In spite of the desire and effort the game ended 2-2, and the fans of those two teams have to wait at least one week to see their dream come true.

With shy attacks and without horizon Astra and Craiova could not score until the first error of the opposite defense. That happened in the 30th minute of the game, when Nogo lost a ball in front of Piturca jr., and the striker did a simple formality scoring for 0-1. Ţicleanu and his band seemed to have taken control, but Silviu Lung jr. failed to catch Popara's free kick from 30 meters, and the score became 1-1 in the 37th minute of the game.

After the break, Astra attacked and get a penalty kick after a fault of Gaman against Fatai. Rohat scored for 2-1 in the 65th minute of the game. Ten minutes after, Madalin Ciuca scored with a head kick from 3 meters after a corner kick of Gangioveanu. Madalin Ciuca used to be Universitatea Craiova's captain until 2008. He was sold to Bistrita then but he came back this summer. Maybe this is a sign for a good future. Both teams tried to score in the last minutes of the game, but the scored did not change until the end of the match. 2-2 and the first point won away by Universitatea Craiova.

The championship has started only now for Universitatea Craiova. Ion Oblemenco stadium became again the meeting point of the Oltenians' emotions, pride and passion. Ilie Balaci, one of the most important football players of Craiova in the past, was assisting this game.

Ţicleanu kept his word after the humiliation from Buzau and proposed a surprising team for this game. Lopes and the young Roman were in the first eleven for the first time. The game has changed but not much. Craiova made e defending game, taking care especially for the movements of the opponent. Timisoara had not an elaborate construction, so they had some casual shots to the goal. Piturca ('21) and Prepelita ('44) made some good opportunities for Craiova and Alexa ('23) for Timisoara, but just for artistic impression.

Timisoara was about to go to cabins in advantage after a double occasion. First, Iliev was close to own goal, after rejecting a ball, then Scutaru had an exceptionally head shot but Lung was ready to defend the goal.

Seven minutes after the break, a normal clear phase made Cisovski and Luchin have given head in the head instead to reject the ball. Piturca took this opportunity and he scored from six meters. In the last minute of the extra time, Zicu scored for Timisoara and the game went for a draw result.

Universitatea Craiova used to play the games considered at home, in Severin. There are 120 Km between Craiova and Drobeta Turnu-Severin, next big city to west. Oltenia region consists in 5 disctricts: Dolj, Olt, Gorj, Mehedinti and Valcea. Capital of Dolj county is Craiova. Capital of Mehedinti county is Drobeta Turnu-Severin.

The next match, against FC Timisoara, will be played on the old Central stadium from Craiova. This stadium was built in 1968 and get the name of the most important football player of Universitatea Craiova, Ion Oblemenco, on 1st September 1996, when this great man died.

This is first game played in Craiova by Universitatea since December 2009. The City Hall of Craiova decided this team should leave Ion Oblemenco stadium and our favorite players used the arena from Severin instead. Now it is the time from Craiova to come back home. Welcome back Stiinta!

Universitatea Craiova did not had trouble with referees as in the first two rounds, but ceded in Buzau, reaching three games without victory.

In the past, white-blues were qualified in the Champions League after the first two stages, but even Stiinta is not anymore that it used to be. There were to confused teams who played a bad football. Mihai Costea had a half-chance in the 10th minute of the game. Lung jr. trained twice for Dorinel Popa's shots. In the second half, the game was looking the same. Craiova had a chance by Firţulescu but his shot was denied from goal's line. Simion, ex-Steaua player, had a head shot after a corner and hit precisely for 1-0.

Universitatea Craiova played another game against a team from Bucharest. Always it happens like this. This scenario comes again and over again in front of our eyes. Craiova plays really good football and the other team is just waiting for the referee to change the result of the game. This is not a mistake. This happens at every game our team is playing.

It was 0-0 until the break. The game was really nice until then. In the 51st minute of the game, Mihai Costea stroke a corner kick. This was a good assist for Valentin Iliev who scored with a strong head kick. In the 57th minute, Mihai Costea got the ball again. He made a good pass near Abrudan and scored for 2-0. With no reason, the referee canceled Craiova's goal. Everybody on the field got stoned. Why?

After all these Steaua scored twice and the game finished with the wanted result by the referee of the game. What can we do now? There were 2 games in this new season. In the first game the referee of the game did not want to give a penalty kick for Universitatea Craiova. In the second game, another referee canceled a perfect goal of the same team. Craiova has only 1 point in the table instead of 6 which normally could have.

David Lopes signed for Craiova

The former Cordoba defender, David Lopes, signed for Universitatea Craiova. He comes from Brazil and used to play for Atletico Paranaense (Brazil), FC Porto (Portugal), Iraty SC (Brazil), NK Osijek (Croatia), Terek Groznai (Russia) and Cordoba (Spain).

He has 1,90m height and he will play as central defender or left defender. He can not play in the first game in this season but he can be part of our team in the second game against Steaua Bucharest.

Universitatea Craiova started to prepare the next season. For this reason our team is in Austria trying to find oxygen and a good shape for the begining of August when the new Romanian football championship will start.

In the first game of this training session, Universitatea Craiova won against Sportklub Bischofshofen (a team in the 4th Austrian football league) with 13-0 (3-0).

On 11th of June started World Cup 2010. At the opening show there were numerous stars present. Between them, Shakira or Black Eyed Peas.

It is a really nice ediotion played in South Africa. The fans are great and the football played there is really good. These are the first results:

Universitatea Craiova - Otelul Galati 3-0

On "Municipal" Stadium in Drobeta Turnu Severin it held the ninth game of the of the 34th stage (last) of Liga 1, edition 2009-2010. Universitatea Craiova met Otelul Galati. A team which was motivated to escape from relegation (Craiova) and a demotivated team, which fought for honor (Galati) and with a lot of problems due to injuries and suspensions.

Craiova played great, getting a nice victory against Otelul Galati 3-0 (1-0), thanks to goals scored by Iliev (14 '), Prepelita (50') and Barboianu (90 '), a result which maintain Craiova in the first Romanian football league. For Craiova was sufficient a draw in this game, but 3 points helped our team to finish this championship on the 13th place in the table from 18 teams in Liga I.

Steaua Bucharest did not made a good impression in the last match played in front of their own supporters, but they won after a bad game, in lack of technical achievements on both sides.

22:00 o'clock was a very inappropriate hour for a football game. Both football teams left the impression they are sleeping on the field. The same sensation had also the viewers of the game. The owners of the both teams, Gigi Becali from Steaua and Adrian Mititelu from Craiova get cursed by the fans and they received trivial invitations to leave the teams for someone else. Both galleries agreed with this point of view during this game.

About the match, but poor words as was the game. Fewer technical achievements. Pleşan two shots on goal in first half both saved by Lung jr. And, perhaps, mostmissed opportunity for Steaua in the first half by Surdu.

Craiova, while seated bravely on the ground, were timid in front of the goal. Mihai Costea was often as individualistic as his older brother. The only occasion was created by Steaua's defender Petre Marin, who in the 38th minute sent a soft pass to his goalkeeper, Firţulescu intercepted but he sent a weak shot near the goal of Tătăruşanu.

In the second half, Arman Karamyan, perhaps the best player of Steaua, openened the score in 70th minute of the game, after a pass from Surdu, who relapsed eight minutes later. Steaua said goodbye to their own supporters with a good result, but with a modest game. Craiova made a pale impression and they still need a victory in the next game to remain in the first Romanian football league.

This was a very important game. Universitatea Craiova was trying to stay in the first league, while Cluj came to the Danube to keep a fragile advantage in the front of League I.

Craiova started euphoric the game and after a few unsuccessful attacks, in the 12th minute Prepelita created a superb action on the right side. He evaded of two opponents and sent a cross in the six meters square where Piturca defeated Nuno Claro by a heel strike. 1-0.

Just over nine minutes, Mihai Costea doubled the advantage with a powerful shot from a short corner from around 12 meters and fans remembered Craiova's victory from the previous season, 4-1 against CFR Cluj. Until the break, both teams have split scoring opportunities, but the score remained unchanged. In the 38th minute, Alcantara saw the red card after hitting Dina.

At the break CFR started to put constant pressure on the goal defended by Lung jr. Cluj efforts materialized in the 63rd minute when Traore has relaunched the game. CFR Cluj, although outnumbered, continued to attack. With five minutes before the end of regular time, Bud restored the equality. Misfortune struck again Universitatea Craiova. In the third extra minute, Iliev comited a foul against Traore in the box and the penalty kick was converted by the captain of CFR Cluj, Cadu. The Severin's stadium get down in silence.

University lost another game and its fans have a lot of reasons to be worried. They will seriously shake for the last two days remained to play in this season.

The nightmare of all Oltenians has a name: Zoran Filipovici. So was 27 years ago when this Montenegrin football player was Benfica's striker and his goal stoped Universitatea Craiova from its road to the UEFA Cup's final act.

Now, Zoran Filipovici is the coach of Ceahlaul Piatra-Neamt and he ruined the debut of Eugen Trica as Craiova's coach. Mark Wotte was replaced by Trica after some missunderstandings with the administrative stuff of Universitatea Craiova.

In the first half, the guests made Villadsen to think that he is a gret goalkeeper. Costea II ('23) and Dina ('33) remained alone with the Dane, but he blocked them. Although the visitors did not forgive him third time. Mihai Costea ('65) exploited Dina's intelligent pass and scored for 0-1.

When the cards seemed to be made, Filipovici fortunate sent Ibrahim in the field and this, after half minute scored for a draw after a Barcauan's perfect pass. Lung jr saved once again in front of Ibrahim but he had to give up in the last minute of the game, when Cebotaru scored for Ceahlaul's victory. Only one second earlier, Craciun was all alone in front of Villadsen but he could not beat the goalkeeper fron Piatra-Neamt.

Ovidiu Dananae returned in the field after almost nine months from the serious knee injury he suffered in a friendly game played by Romania against Hungary. He was replaced in the 74th minute of this game.

For every fan of Universitatea Craiova it was a crazy game. Universitatea had in the field a children "invasion", while Unirea Urziceni allowed to keep on the bench people who scored in Champions League.

The only ones who seemed to care about this were Craiova's players, who started the game with a lot of enthusiasm. This did not last to long because at the first goal phase, the champions opened the score. Maftei centered and Bilaşco, alone in the penalty area, scored by a head strike. It was the 8th minute of the game and everything seemed to be lost for Oltenia.

Six minutes later Firţulescu had a big chance to chang this game's result. Piturca was excellent and passed to this midfielder, but he targeted from 12 meters the oposite goalkeeper. Guests have understood the warning and focused more on defensive. They closed all the spaces toward Grigore's goal and nothing important happened until breaktime.

After the break, Mark Wotte forced the attack and he changed Paunovic for Mihai Costea. But Ron Levy made decisive moves. All his 3 reserves scored in this game. Rusescu ('71), Pădureţu ('81) and Semedo (88) ruined holiday in Severin. Craiova inserted a goal between the first two goals of Urziceni, but the great success of Gângioveanu ('75), has not mattered until artistic impression.

After an excellent match in Romanian Cup against Brasov, Fortuna left Vaslui and turned her face to Craiova, a team struggling to stay in Liga I.

From the begining of the game in Vaslui hostilities was as clearly as possible: hosts in outposts, guests "in the box", hoping for a lucky strike back. Pavlovic had a head strike in the 19th minute but he missed, Lucian Sânmărtean tried also to beat Lung jr in 41st minute but he failed from 10 meters.

In front of a little disoriented and not so incisive team, Lacatus' players did not succeded to manage the first half of the game. In the 71st minute Piturca escaped from defenders of Vaslui marking and scored in the goal of Kuciak. Moldavian arena came in complete silence. Note that before this goal, Wotte wanted to change Piturca, but the referee Robert Dumitru did not allow the change. As expected, the hosts finished the game on the offensive, but they were stuck in front of Craiova's goal. Costly scored once, but from an offside position, and thus missed a good chance to bring his team on the second post in the table. Lung jr. that was redcarded in extra time for the second yellow card, but Universitatea Craiova's goal was succesfully defended by Mihai Dina who got the goalkeeper's gloves and T-shirt.

Craiova was supported by a single fan in Vaslui. At the end of the game, all the players celebrated this precious victory together with this unique supporter. Wotte's football players have plunged on the grass in front of him, and after they have climbed the fence and sang along with the only man who had a sit in the reserved for guests area.
